First Appointment at AB Orthodontics

Going to the orthodontist for the first time can be a bit intimidating, but it’s an important step in taking care of your teeth and achieving a healthy, beautiful smile. Here’s what you can expect at your first orthodontic appointment at AB Orthodontics:

1. A Warm Welcome

When you arrive at AB Orthodontics, you’ll be greeted by the front desk staff, who will help you check in and fill out any necessary paperwork. They’ll also introduce you to Dr. Brown and the AB Orthodontics team.

2. A Comprehensive Examination

Dr. Brown will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth, jaws, and bite, looking for any potential issues with the alignment, spacing, or growth of your teeth.

Dr. Brown may also take x-rays and photographs of your teeth and jaws, which will help him get a better look at what’s going on inside your mouth. This process is completely painless, and Dr. Brown and the AB Orthodontics team will do everything they can to make you feel comfortable and at ease.  And – it’s pretty awesome to see pictures of your teeth that haven’t come in yet.  Kinda like a sneak preview!

3. Discussion of Findings

Once the examination is complete, Dr. Brown will discuss his findings with you (and your parents). He’ll explain any issues he found and what he recommends as the best course of treatment.

This might involve braces, clear aligners like Invisalign or 3M Clarity, or other orthodontic appliances, depending on your specific needs. Dr. Brown will explain what each option involves and help you decide which one is the best fit for you.

Remember – Dr. Brown customizes his treatment plans to each individual person, so just because your friend has an appliance doesn’t necessarily mean you will need one, too!  There is no “one-size-fits-all” in orthodontics!

4. Questions and Answers

At this point, you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the treatment plan or any other concerns you have about your teeth. Dr. Brown and the AB Orthodontics team are there to help you feel comfortable and informed, so don’t hesitate to ask about anything that’s on your mind!

Dr. Brown will also explain the timeline for treatment, how often you’ll need to come in for appointments, and what to expect in terms of discomfort and adjustments.

That’s it!  And when you’re done, we’ll give you some cool stuff to take home!
